Twitter is one of those things, that in my opinion is rather overrated and misused, but of course, we don’t live in a perfect world and people is free to use twitter or whatever service however they want.

In my opinion twitter does have a lot of value. As you said, is a good way to keep up with breaking news or “headlines” of max 140 characters. I like to put it like this: If you were to send a SMS to all your friends, you would rather use Twitter. That’s what twitter is for me, a way to keep in contact while been brief, very brief.

I agree, we saw this happen with ‘the evening standard’ people didn’t pay for the paper, they read ‘the london paper’ and ‘the london lite’ instead because they are free. What happened? The evening standard was forced to become free, and the standard of journalism went down (excuse the pun), and then the readers of the evening standard have the audacity to complain about the sudden increase of advertising within the newspaper? Ridiculous.

With spotify, again, I totally agree, I hear people moan about spotify adverts, and then you ask ‘why don’t you just buy premium’, and the response? “Why should I” – From now on, I will direct them to this article.

I’d take the money, although if I was 10 years older, I’d probably want to keep going with it and make more money. Then again, I have no idea how they are planning to make money – maybe they have a great plan? It’s tough to say. I don’t think Foursquare is the best example of “freeloaders”, but it annoys me that users are getting so worked up about it. Fine, say your piece, but don’t start screaming at Foursquare as if it’s not something 99.99% of people would do in a heartbeat. People have to realize, like you have, that these guys have done what very few others can and they deserve their day in the sun.

Totally agree – all the startups in this day and age are focusing on building a user base and muddle through simply through gaining financial backing. This has led to users getting everything for free and thinking it should also be this way.

In Foursquare’s case, it’s a tricky one. As a user, I desperately want them to resist Yahoo’s offer. I think that they’re likely to destroy the company and that Yahoo is not somewhere that a startup will thrive. However, if I was the owner of the business I would be scrambling to sell. That type of money will have you set for life without having done *that* much. It really depends on whether they really have a passion to be at the forefront of location, or whether they would be happy forgetting that and living off that money (personally, I would choose the latter!).
